Tenets is essentially a code of morals. They are not rules, nor are they declarations. They are simply a set of guidelines to remind us of who we are and what we strive to achieve in our professional lives.
They are the basis of a discussion point, subject to interpretation and definitely open to change. Take from them what you like. The Tenets of CREWS.TV 1. The Unrelenting Pursuit of Excellence Doing your best is not the aim but the starting point. This translates to all aspects of everything we do. From taking the call, showing up to work and going home in the evening. This pursuit never ends and encompasses the person as a whole. 2. The Highest Standard of Professionalism Saying yes to undertake someone's project carries a huge responsibility. With every action and every decision and every word this ensures care and accountability always and without exception to all matters professional. 3. No Prejudice among Peers Reputation is subjective and remaining objective in the shadow of a gossip filled industry is the high road. Everyone has the potential of upping their game; deep down everyone wants to do better. The trick is to unlock that willingness and encourage a higher standard. 4. Humor and Humility Laughter is not only the best medicine; it will make you live longer. Having a good sense of humor not only makes you good company but shows you don't take yourself too seriously. Egos can easily self combust humor can keep us in check and encourage humility along the way. To be part of a group like ours this is key. 5. Industry before Self Putting oneĆs self interest at heart is key to being in business however a unified community who looks at the project, the industry and the individual in that order will long term deliver business dividends to all. 6. Expanding the knowledge Learning is an everyday process which never ends. Coming of the minds ensures that as a group we maintain competitive advantage. It ensures that we progress as a group and as individuals. 7. No Short Cuts The long way is the hard way, there is no other way because a short cut ultimately leads to problems. A job done right is a job done once. 8. Ethics in Business and People Your clients, your suppliers and your peers are family. You see them right and so will they. 9. Motivation to be the best in the world On the job there is no one telling you, you can do better, you can work faster, you should go a little further.. to be the best in the world you must first want it. 10. Share the Ethos Being the best is not an elite little club it is in fact something that anyone is capable of achieving. We can do our own thing or we can be leaders and leading is done by example. With experience comes responsibility. This Ethos is not rocket science and certainly not exclusive to our website, it is however 10 simple rules that so many people choose not to follow. Our Ethos, our tenets is a shared philosophy and we encourage anyone who comes across them to discard what they don't want, take what makes sense to them and make it their own. |

This is something I wrote many years ago to put a mantra and philosophy in what we do. These are my personal tenets and I was hoping to share it with the group. However I think its time to revise and re-examine the core values as we move on to a higher tier.
Would love your thoughts. Yves |

Quote: 8. Ethics in Business and People Your clients and your peers are family. You see them right and so will they. You may wish to include "suppliers" The rental guy who goes out of his way to make your project work, or the tape supplier who drops off some stock during a shoot, the techo who advises you on a particular setting, etc. I have come to realise the importance of reliable suppliers over the years - they are a critical link in the chain. This is a good document and the kind of thing we should have a look at occassionally. |
