XDHD PDW700 Workshop success
Titirangi, Feb5
The first of a series of workshops held at the home of NZCREWS in Titirangi. We discussed many basics. "What is the Matrix?" not only earned a few laughs but became a hallmark of our session. New HD terminology, technical terms and even perhaps sales jargon can often confuse many leaving people to get quite emotional about stuff that is really at core very technical. So seeing technical terms in a mass.. is like decoding the Matrix..no doubt! To the rescue.. our Neo! Not Keanu but Clive!

What better than a room of technical people to educate, share and most of all dispel myths. Dichroic Tilt and Chromatic Aberration was one that we all took in with baited breath and knowing how to find its optimal zone to make sure that either was minimized or achieved depending what you are looking for.
Often, a cameraman can be compared to a formula one race car drivers. None of them are mechanical engineers but most of them, if not all the best ones are mechanics and understanding your camera can often be the difference between a good driver and a formula one winner.
For those of you who missed it, we are planning another, in a few months and an advanced workshop on its heels (with the basic as a pre-requisite) with an emphasis on looks, style and gamma tables. You will need to know how to read a waveform monitor, a basic understanding of HD resolutions and system frequencies.
Please stay in tune with this forum, the website and our newsletter (which will be back online very soon)
NZCREWS is committed to education and sharing information that betters the industry, these forums.. XDCAM products and P2 products and otherwise are really meant for local discussions to take place. We do need your contributions, thoughts and opinions for it to continue. Admin postings can only go so far and is really seen as a sign from the community and will be heeded.
Thanks for everyone who made the time to attend, look forward to your continued support.
